Participating in the LAUNCHX program at the University of Michigan was an incredible, transformative experience. Over four weeks, I dove deep into the world of entrepreneurship, surrounded by like-minded international community of high schoolers who shared a passion for innovation and problem-solving.
From day one, we were challenged to think like entrepreneurs. We were formed into teams and worked together to develop viable business solutions. Each day was packed with lectures, mentorship sessions, team meatings and activities that made our summer so much fun!
Our time consisted of 4 members and everyone had a strong mix of skills, starting from coding and ending with UI/UX design. Together, we set out to identify real-world problems that we were passionate about solving. By brainstorming a lot of ideas, we came up with the one that fit us the most.
How often do you experience emergency household situations, where professional would be so helpful, but there’s noone on line? According to our market research and one-on-one interview sessions, 58% of Ann Arbor citizen had problems with finding a company that will fix electricity, Wi-Fi, wiring, or power issues. Moreover, every 5 out of 8 respondents had to wait for more than a day to get their household problem solved.
To address it we developed a Qnect that offers quick connects and reliable solutions. Our aim was to make the go-to solution for anyone facing urgent issues. Our business model for Qnect focused on creating a simple and accessible platform that would bridge local professionals with residents in need. We decided on a commission-based revenue model: Qnect would take a percentage from each transaction facilitated through the platform. This approach not only provided a steady revenue stream but also kept costs low for users by avoiding high subscription fees. For now, chechout our front app design👇
By the end of the four weeks, I walked away with more than just entrepreneurial knowledge. I gained confidence in my ability to turn ideas into reality and a deeper understanding of the startup ecosystem. After we finished revising and analysing U.S. market customers, we’re working on backend development of the app to launch an app soon!
Spending the summer in Ann Arbor was an unforgettable adventure packed with first-time experiences and pure fun! Celebrating the 4th of July, playing football on Michigan Stadium, and exploring the city with friends made the summer unforgettable.
And then, there was the Detroit Tigers game! Stepping into that stadium with the buzz of the crowd, even if I didn’t know all the baseball lingo, the thrill of the game and cheering alongside the crowd was unforgettable. It was the kind of summer where every day felt like a new adventure, packed with unforgettable memories and nonstop excitement.
